Dissertation Advisors for Public Health Online programmes

The Health and Life Sciences online degree programmes have international reach in terms of both students and faculty. Currently, faculty is based around the globe in 45 countries. We have an outstanding reputation for high quality teaching and learning and expert support for students completing their Masters level research projects. Students pursue quantitative and/or qualitative research, as partial fulfillment for their degree programme.

Positions require a high level of commitment, including the flexibility to advise dissertation students, and respond to student learning needs on multiple days of the week, including weekends, as well as occasional synchronous students contact. Faculty members are paid on a per-dissertation student basis.

Qualifications and Experience:

 Essential criteria: 

  •  A PhD in Public Health or related field. 
  •  Experience of teaching and/or supervising student dissertations/theses in Public Health at postgraduate level in Higher Education.
  •  Candidates should have appropriate epidemiological or qualitative research experience. 
  •  Evidence of recent scholarly activity through journal publication, conference delivery and scholarly contributions. 
  •  Ability to identify the learning needs of postgraduate students and provide appropriate support. 
  •  Ability to respond to pedagogical and practical challenges. 
  •  Ability to plan and carry out good quality quantitative and/or qualitative research. 
  •  Ability to supervise dissertations and to provide advice and guidance according to the University of Liverpool standards. 
  •  Good IT skills, including word-processing, use of Internet, email, and graphics packages. 
  •  Good organisational skills, including ability to manage documentation efficiently. 
  •  Experience working with students from different cultural backgrounds. 
  •  Facilitative disposition towards highly motivated adult students.
  •  Excellent written communication skills in English.

Selected candidates will be required to complete a two-week orientation workshop designed to introduce them to the online dissertation advising environment, procedures and processes. The orientation workshop is scheduled for 19 October 2017. The workshop is conducted 100% online and is not restricted to specific hours during the day.
