We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated professional to support the activities of the EU team and wider within Research and Enterprise, targeting research income from EU funding sources including Horizon 2020.
The successful candidate will support academics and the EU Funding Managers with the preparation of competitive grant applications, including proposal reviews, costings and all-round administrative support, ensuring applications meet the requirements and priorities of the sponsor and scheme. You will lead the preparation and submission of EU partnering bids and smaller value bids such as Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowships, liaising closely with academics and providing high quality and comprehensive support, from initial enquiries to submission, working under minimal supervision.
The Assistant EU Funding Manager will be an integral part of a centrally based team of research development professionals whose key aim is to increase the University’s research fund portfolio in line with the University’s Research Strategy.
You will have:
- Knowledge of research funding sources and mechanisms in the EU
- Experience of deadline driven working and the research support environment
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills as well as a keen eye for detail
- Ability to work effectively under pressure against deadlines, progressing numerous projects at any one time and prioritising own work flow
- Ability to take ownership of tasks and act independently and proactively in light of shifting priorities
