We are seeking a high-flying individual to join the Arthritis Research UK Centre for Adolescent Rheumatology at University College London, University College London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital as a senior clinical academic colleague. The appointed individual will take on the role of Principle Investigator in Adolescent Rheumatology within the Centre, with a strong focus on translational basic science research. S/he will be expected to lead and drive research of an innovative group, attract major grant awards to enhance Centre activity, undertake supervision of graduate students and post doctoral fellows, publish in high impact journals, and contribute to patient engagement, teaching and leadership aspects of the Centre. 

The post-holder will also be expected to be PI at the UCLH site of clinical cohort studies and trials in adolescents and young adults.  S/he will be responsible to Prof. Isenberg for academic activities and to the Director Prof Wedderburn and Co-Directors of the Centre for Adolescent Rheumatology. S/he will provide regular reports and updates to the Centre for Adolescent Rheumatology Senior Management Board, Scientific Advisory Board and funding bodies. In addition to participation in research and the provision of clinical care see below the successful candidate will share in administrative and management activities of the Centre as appropriate.

This post has open ended funding.

The appointed individual will be trained in either Adult or Paediatric Rheumatology, and an excellent track record of research basic/translational/applied of relevance to the Centre and the field as well as a passion to improve the lives of adolescents and young adults with arthritis and related rheumatological inflammatory conditions, including JSLE, JDM, and vasculitis. It is important that the post holder has a strong background in some aspect of translational and/or basic science research in the field of autoimmune rheumatic disease and research areas that will complement or build upon the existing strengths of the Centre. S/he will have a strong academic track record, that will ensure that they will be competitive in securing major grant funding and ideally have experience in undertaking successful independent research, beyond their PhD or equivalent .
