Detail information about job Director of IT. Terms and conditions vacancy

Founded in 1963, the University of East Anglia (UEA) is an internationally-renowned university providing high-quality academic, social and cultural facilities for over 16,000 students. The institution is ranked in the top 200 universities in the world and 12th in the Complete University Guide 2018. UEA has been consistently in the top ten for student satisfaction since the National Student Survey (NSS) was established. Both the THE and Leiden rankings currently place UEA in the world top 100 for research citation impact.

The University is located in 362 acres of beautiful parkland, yet is just two miles from the centre of the vibrant cathedral city of Norwich. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across the arts and humanities, science, the social sciences, medicine and health sciences. The campus is part of the Norwich Research Park (NRP), one of Europe’s centres of excellence in life and environmental sciences research. The NRP is an internationally-recognised community of world-ranked partner research institutions, higher education and technology-based business.

UEA now seeks to appoint a senior strategic leader as Director of IT who will be charged with developing and implementing a comprehensive IT & Digital Strategy which will fundamentally transform the delivery of services and systems to create a world-class technology infrastructure supporting excellent teaching and learning, support world-leading research, cost efficient corporate platforms and place digital thinking at the heart of all UEA does. Leading a large, diverse directorate, the Director of IT will drive change to foster a culture of customer service, positive stakeholder engagement and agility to respond dynamically to ever-changing opportunities and challenges.

Candidates will be expected to possess exceptional operational and leadership skills, developed in complex environments. The ability to communicate complex information to senior audiences across the institution will be crucial, as will the ability to lead large teams, work across a complex stakeholder map and enthuse, inspire and motivate people. Financial acumen, strong grasp of technological change and substantive IT issues are all essential for the position.

Longlisted candidates will be invited to interview with Society during the week of 25th September 2017. Formal interviews with UEA for shortlisted candidates will take place during early October 2017.

An appointment will be made subject to receipt of satisfactory references. The appointed candidate will be offered a salary that is commensurate with their experience and the seniority of their new role.
