Detail information about job Senior Teaching Fellow. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology was established on 1st August 2013 and comprises two research departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU). It currently directly employs 265 staff, generates an annual income in excess of £30 million and collaborates with more than 80 countries worldwide. The Institute also has two further units that are virtual members: The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre and the PRIMENT Clinical Trials Unit. Over time, and building on the strengths of its Research Departments the mission of the Institute is to become a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis and epidemiological studies. Key areas of focus for the Institute will include delivering the translation of innovations in trial methodology and training and developing the next generation of trialists.

The Senior Teaching Fellow role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to support an ambitious educational programme; activities include a suite of CPD and short course offerings; delivery of undergraduate Clinical Trials modules, a PhD programme and one of very few face-to-face Masters Programmes in Clinical Trials.

The role holder will be a key member of the Institute’s Education Team, with significant responsibility for the MSc in Clinical Trials programme. The Senior Teaching Fellow role is a key role in the ongoing development, delivery and management of this exciting programme.

The post holder will be expected to be committed to continuing professional development and to updating their knowledge in clinical trials and teaching methods.

This post is an open-ended role.

The successful candidate will have solid experience of teaching undergraduate/postgraduate students in fields related to clinical trials preferably within Higher Education and/or a research intensive environment. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the development and delivery of original innovative educational material including digital education, the use of virtual learning environments and using multi-media tools.

You will need to be enthusiastic about education and training and ready to impart your in-depth knowledge of a range of core issues related to clinical trials, particularly in the fields of trial design and set-up, analysis, current issues and challenges while working collaboratively and flexibly within, and across, teams.

It is essential that you have a postgraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to clinical trials/methodology, or a postgraduate qualification in another discipline. A postgraduate certificate in education and/or accreditation in teaching would be an advantage.
