The University of Law (ULaw) has very recently been awarded a gold ranking in the Government led Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The University’s Library Service is designed to support excellence in teaching and learning and we now have an opportunity for a professionally qualified Manager to lead our Library services in our Moorgate and Bloomsbury centres by coordinating the provision of high quality library and information services to students and staff including training in research and information literacy. The post holder will lead Faculty engagement and partnership working in London to support academic enhancement and business development. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Organising and managing the delivery of the Library service in line with the University’s strategic objectives, to ensure quality standards and best practice are adhered to. Overseeing the collection management cycle in the London libraries.
  • Ensuring that an enquiry service and other library support for users is provided in an efficient, timely and relevant manner with responsibility for the recruitment, performance, training and development of the library team.
  • Contributing to the work of the University Library Services team in monitoring and evaluating the service and informing on the strategic direction of the department.

The successful candidate will be a Qualified Information Professional educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally a Chartered member of CILIP. We are looking for previous experience in an academic or legal context with knowledge of business or legal research.  The postholder will have an excellent understanding of the academic environment with a good level of awareness in current developments in academic libraries.   Relationship management experience with a strong problem solving ability and meticulous attention to detail are prerequisites for the role.
