Detail information about job Postdoctoral Fellow - Network Biology and Pathway Modeling. Terms and conditions vacancy

Contract Duration: 2 years (renewable)

Job DescriptionThe European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain).

We are looking for a highly talented postdoctoral researcher to join the newly established group of Jan Kosinski at EMBL Hamburg and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB). The group investigates infection cycles and host-pathogen interactions using computational and experimental approaches.

The successful candidate will work in the area of network biology, in particular, integrative modeling of infection cycles to discover host-pathogen interactions, which will involve network and pathway reconstruction and analysis, development of automated methods for pathway reconstruction by integrating systems and structural data, and multi-scale modeling of entire cellular processes. Projects will be supported by experimental data generated in-house and in collaboration, and followed by experiments for testing the models and verifying hypotheses.

Qualifications and ExperienceA Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related disciplines is required. Prior experience in systems biology, reconstruction of signaling pathways, and biological network and pathway analysis, would be desirable. Programming skills are expected. Experience in proteomics data analysis, analysis of protein-protein interactions, omics-data integration, and basic understanding of linear algebra and graph theory are considered an advantage.
