Department of English Studies seeks to appoint an exceptional writer of poetry and/or prose fiction as an Assistant Professor in the broad field of Creative Writing. This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the development of the department’s research environment, and teaching and curriculum.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate her/his capacity for creative writing of the highest quality, for teaching creative writing, for the assessment and examination of student work, and for administrative duties. S/he will have a strong record of creative publications commensurate with career stage and with the Department’s internationally excellent profile. S/he will work closely with the Director of the MA programme in Creative Writing, which launched in 2016-17.
This post is to cover the teaching responsibilities of a colleague who will be on research leave in autumn 2017, and to assist the creative writing programme during a period of restructuring. This post is therefore for a fixed term of 12 months and it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond this fixed term. Successful applicants will, ideally, be in post by October 2017.
