ContextWe seek to appoint a Programme Leader to launch and build the development of the BA (Hons) Digital Animation programme. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced and dynamic individuals to set up and lead a high calibre, UK validated, internationally facing BA (Hons) programme, within the context of a vibrant and dynamic school of creative arts in the most exciting hub for business, culture and innovation of Brazil today: São Paulo.

Escola Britânica de Artes Criativas is the first school in Latin America to provide BA (Hons) degrees, in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire (UK) following the successful model of the British Higher School of Art & Design in Moscow also validated by UH.

The BA (hons) programme will start in February 2018. The programme will grow year on year and it is the only one of its kind in Brazil. This first intake will be around 20 students and the following yearly cohorts are expected to be around 40-60 students studying and working in dedicated studios, printmaking, photography, and computer labs.

A team of experienced lecturers and subject specialists consisting of international and local full time and part time staff, contribute to the learning experience of students on BA (Hons) Digital Animation and help to create a culturally rich and vibrant course.

Students enrolling onto the British undergraduate programmes are taught in English and typically undertake our one-year Foundation Diploma in Art & Design (incorporating English language classes) before progressing onto one of the six undergraduate programmes. Students on our degree programmes have the option of choosing to do any year of their courses either in São Paulo or in the UK.

The postWe are looking for applicants with substantial experience of leading or making a significant contribution to the leadership of HE Animation, Games and/or Visual Effects programmes, either specifically on BA (Hons) or other equivalent degree / HE courses. Applicants will be ambitious and highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills and be team players with the ability to inspire, lead and manage staff and students.

The post holder has an overview of the teaching and learning of all 4 digital animation awards within the School (2D Animation & Character for Digital Media, 3D Computer Animation & Modelling, 3D Games Art & Design, and Visual Effects for Film & TV) and will be expected to take an active role in fulfilling the strategic objectives of the School; uphold the professional ethos of both EBAC and UH and share in the corporate responsibility for the academic well-being of students within the School; establish and maintain constructive working relationships with colleagues and to cooperate with them on the development and continuous improvement of the School.

Note that for the post the post holders will only be involved with the British undergraduate programmes delivered in English. You don't have to speak Portuguese.
