We are seeking two enthusiastic researchers to join the HIV Modelling Consortium, a group based in the School of Public Health at Imperial College and funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The HIV Modelling Consortium works to coordinate research activities in mathematical modelling of the HIV epidemic around the globe. See www.hivmodelling.org for further details. Professor Timothy Hallett is the Principal Investigator for the HIV Modelling Consortium. The post holder will be based in London, and will be expected work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The position will entail reviewing literature, construction and analysis of mathematical models, supporting research project management and proposal writing.
We are looking for applicants with a keen interest in international public health and policy-orientated research questions. You will have knowledge of HIV epidemiology and current HIV/AIDS key research priorities and an ability to communicate results to local and international stakeholders at meetings/conferences and through academic publications. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases in humans and animals in both industrialised and developing countries, as demonstrated through their studies or previous employment. Candidates will have strong quantitative skills, as well as a good working knowledge of deterministic and complex individual-based models. The ability to design and analyse large scale modelling experiments is also desirable. Experience of working in HIV/AIDS or sexual and reproductive health, primary data collection and a PhD are desirable, as are strong communication skills.
This is a full Time, fixed term post until 31 July 2018
