The Department of Computing is a leading department of Computer Science among UK Universities, and has consistently been awarded the highest research rating from the Higher Education Funding Council. In the 2014 REF assessment, the Department was ranked third (1st in the Research Intensity table published by The Times Higher), and was rated as "Excellent" in the previous national assessment of teaching quality.
We are looking to hire one motivated postdoctoral Researcher to join the award-winning Custom Computing Research Group (http://cc.doc.ic.ac.uk), to work closely with many UK and international academic and industrial partners. The Research Associate will contribute to high-quality research on reconfigurable acceleration of advanced data processing based on artificial intelligence techniques. Various advanced FPGA systems and design tools will be available for developing experimental prototypes.
To apply you will need to have or be near completing a PhD degree (or equivalent) in an area related to the research subject, such as Computer Science or Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The successful applicant will have the ability to write, optimise and verify complex and efficient computer programs and hardware designs in suitable languages such as Matlab, C, MaxJ, VHDL or Verilog. You must be motivated to become an outstanding, world-class researcher, with a passion for innovation, creativity and perfectionism.
You must have excellent communication skills and be able to organise your own work with minimal supervision and prioritise work to meet deadlines. All applicants must be fluent in spoken and written English.
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £32,380 - £34,040 per annum.
