We are looking to appoint a trainee analyst programmer to the Programming Team at Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit. The post holder’s main responsibilities are to support the analysis, design, development and documentation of a number of web based clinical trial management systems. The systems are developed using C#.NET and MS SQL Server, where the post holder’s skills with MVC, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap and many other technologies can be used.
He/she will work closely with one or more trial coordinators and statisticians as well as the programming team. Training will be a combination of external and internal training and on the job learning. The post holder will work within the framework of the Programming Team’s operating procedures, and will be expected to show a good degree of initiative and energy in personal development.
The Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) is a leading research unit within the University of Birmingham, directed by Professor Peter Brocklehurst. Established in 1997, BCTU has evolved into one of the largest and most effective CTUs in the UK, undertaking exciting and medical practice changing research across a wide range of disease areas. BCTU has a strong human resource base of over 100 people, with specialist statistical, methodological, trial management, quality assurance and database development expertise, who currently oversee the design, setup, coordination, analysis and reporting of the Unit’s clinical trial research.
Based in the beautiful University of Birmingham Edgbaston campus and close to the railway station, the BCTU offices are conveniently located with superb facilities for all staff.
Starting salary within the range of £21,904 to £23,532 with potential progression to £27,242
