The Charlie Waller Institute is proud to deliver high quality training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to clinicians working with Children, Young People (CYP) and families. This is a growing area of activity and we have a vacancy for a full time Senior Clinical Tutor.

The post holder will help plan and organise teaching programmes, deliver teaching and clinical supervision, support other staff, and assess students. You will join a supportive and enthusiastic team working in a research active School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences. This role offers a wide range of opportunities to develop your career and to work at the cutting edge of linking theory, research, teaching and clinical practice.

Main duties and responsibilities:

For the Charlie Waller Institute programmes in evidence based psychological therapies.

  • To organise and deliver clinical training in evidence based psychological therapies for children and young people
  • To mark and moderate students’ coursework and exams and to rate their therapy recordings according to standardised measures
  • To contribute to the development of the programmes
  • To provide clinical supervision to trainees working with CYP

The post will have limited day to day supervision and the responsible person is expected to make decisions, and identify issues and respond appropriately.

You will have:

  • Experience in delivering and teaching Cognitive Behaviour Therapy specifically in relation to children and young people
  • Excellent teaching skills demonstrated by feedback from those previously taught
  • Accreditation as a CBT therapist (or willingness and experience to become accredited with the BABCP)
  • Excellent clinical skills reflected in an ability to engage with children and young people clients and to link the science and practice of evidence based psychological therapies
  • Experience as a clinical supervisor and excellent feedback from supervisees
  • Ability to mark effectively and consistently and to tight schedules, and to use standardised measures appropriately.
  • Confident communication skills in a range of settings
  • Ability to understand how and when difficulties arise with implementing evidence-based psychological therapies; ability to work with clinicians from all backgrounds with a variety of experience to troubleshoot these difficulties.
  • Ability to use the full range of MS Office packages.
  • Ability to evaluate their own clinical and teaching work.
  • Excellent organisational ability.
