The appointment will be on UCL Grade Clinical Senior Lecturer (Consultant). The salary range will be £78,163 - £104,627 per annum, according to seniority. Calculation of basic salary and pay thresholds is based on the seniority indicated on the application form, inclusive of London Allowance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Clinical Academic to help advance gastroenterological management for people with cancer, and in particular oesophageal cancer. You will be a clinician coming from a related subject discipline bringing a vision for research and a passion for patient care and teaching. At a research level, you will have an excellent track record of working in the field of gastroenterological intervention, with a translational research portfolio involving either endoscopic or biomarker work. You will be working in close partnership with Professor Laurence Lovat, the head of the GastroENterological IntervEntion (GENIE) Centre in the Department of Tissue and Energy at the Bloomsbury Campus of the Division and associated partners. You will have access to a world-class concentration of medical sciences and imaging as well as outstanding healthcare engineering in the new Wellcome EPSRC Centre for Surgical and Interventional Science.

From a teaching perspective, you will help deliver a new MSc Surgical Skills in an appropriate gastroenterological area, perhaps in interventional endoscopy. This is subject to further discussion. Development of this course is crucial to our strategy to cement UCL as a world-leading interventional research and teaching centre and will add teaching excellence to an area where we already have research excellence. You will also support development of a portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD) courses and undergraduate medical student teaching.

Key Requirements:

MRCP, Higher academic degree e.g. MD or PhD, and evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications [or in final stages of equivalent level of attainment in research publications] and full GMC registration and on GMC Specialist Register (CCT) in relevant specialty or proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview are all essential. The postholder must have experience of working in a Clinical and Research environment, Accreditation in Gastroenterology or other appropriate accreditation and experience of high quality academic research in the field of gastroenterology.
