The School of Science & Sport is a multidisciplinary School, with a diverse range of programmes delivered at our Ayr, Hamilton, Paisley, and London campuses with a combined total of circa 1,600 students. Teaching and Research is at the heart of all of the School’s activities, with NSS teaching scores at 100% in some of our undergraduate programmes. We are looking to build and diversify from the success of REF2014.
We welcome applications from dynamic and motivated individuals with appropriately focused teaching and research interests, who have experience working with governing bodies related to sport coaching or sport development.
You will contribute extensively to the Sport, Education and Society research group, within the Institute for Clinical Exercise & Health Science, conducting and publishing relevant research in both national and international contexts. You should therefore have experience of attracting grant funding, appropriate publications commensurate with a competitive REF submission, and supervising post-graduate students. Our Sport, Education and Society research group advance the development and delivery of sport from participation to performance, through key research themes such as sport practitioner development (e.g. performance analysts, sport psychologists), and physical activity promotion.
An accomplished academic, versed in contemporary learning methods, you will have Line Management responsibility, and be expected to lead and develop curricular refresh to include development and delivery of blended and distance learning at postgraduate level. You will possess the skills, knowledge, and experience to play a leadership role in achieving programme, School, and University goals in teaching, internationalisation, research, and commercial activity.
You will join a progressive team of individuals in the delivery and development of undergraduate degrees in Sport Coaching and Sport Development within the School. Both degree programmes achieved NSS scores of 93% in 2015-16 and have 100% of students in work/further study 6 months after graduating. With a PhD in Sport Coaching, Sport Development, or other closely aligned discipline, you will also help the team develop our postgraduate provision internationally, delivering excellence in the field.
