An exciting postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious graduate to undertake research in the group of Dr Simon Webb in the School of Chemistry, University of Manchester.
The Webb group has an active and productive research programme in supramolecular membrane chemistry. Within this programme an opportunity exists to extend recent work on transmembrane communication to the field of molecular robotics. This is a multidisciplinary project that seeks to design and chemically synthesise molecules capable of long range communication within a molecular factory. As well as the synthesis of the target molecules, the project will require quantitative analysis of their behaviour in complex mixtures. This project will involve collaboration with a team of researchers in the Universities of Manchester, Bristol and Cambridge.
You will have, or be working towards, a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry or supramolecular chemistry. The position will provide you with an opportunity to play a leading role in the research programme, working under your own initiative and coordinating the efforts of other researchers. Strong communication and organisational skills will be essential for this position.
The School is strongly committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for gender equality in higher education.
