We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Mechanical Engineering for a Research Support Officer to come and support the Department’s Research Excellence Framework (REF2021). You will join the Research Support team and report to the Research Support Manager, you will work with the Departmental Director for Research & Innovation, Department Research Impact Champion and other staff.
In this varied and dynamic role, the successful applicant will play an important role in developing and implementing policies and procedures to support academic staff in their research impact activities. You will work with senior academic staff to develop Impact and REF submission strategies and take a leading role in the co-ordination and submission of the Department’s REF submission.
We are looking for a self-motivated team player who can work independently, who can plan and progress work activities and have the ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving. You will have an awareness of issues surrounding the HR research funding environment with experience of data collection and report writing. Experience of dealing with sensitive information and an appreciation of confidentiality is essential. You will have the ability to communicate highly technical ideas and proposals to lay audiences.
Applicants should be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) and be highly proficient in the use of IT packages, from standard software such as Microsoft Office to cloud-based computing through Google
