Fixed Term contract until 2nd July 2020, to commence as soon as possible

The School leads in delivering Cranfield’s Mission within Water, Energy and Power, and Environment and Agrifood and is committed to leading in its areas of expertise through investing in world class staff and facilities over the long term.

Cranfield’s expertise in energy and power covers a range of the potential energy solutions, from our ongoing relationship with oil and gas, to our developing reliance on renewable energy from the world around us. The changing energy landscape presents exciting opportunities and the potential for the UK to lead in new technologies and services related to low carbon energy and power generation.

You will work within a dynamic team on the recently won prestigious UK-CHINA funded project INNO-MPP (https://www.cranfield.ac.uk/research-projects/finding-synergies-between-offshore-renewable-energy-and-offshore-aquaculture-systems), addressing the novel challenges for offshore multi-purpose platforms. These platforms aim at finding synergies between renewable energy systems and aquaculture systems.

You will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering, Offshore Renewable Engineering or related discipline, or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience.  You will be fluent in analytical and numerical modelling and methods, and able to develop new ones, and have extensive research experience in dynamics of systems analysis.

Experience in environmental impact assessment and socio-economic impact assessment of offshore renewable energy devices will be considered a plus.

Communication skills, particularly a demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality journals and conferences is essential, in addition to excellent presentation skills.  An ability to conduct research within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team is also essential, as is a positive attitude to internal and external collaborations.
