Detail information about job Senior Scientific Officer. Terms and conditions vacancy
The Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development and is one of the leading research institutes in Europe. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies, with special emphasis on imaging, metabolomics, and in vivo models. We are looking to strengthen one of our newly established groups with more dedicated researchers who want to develop their careers in research science and participate in frontline biomedical research.
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated researcher as a Senior Scientific Officer (SSO). You will establish and supervise an advanced murine model of brain tumour, using human primary glioma cell xenotransplants. You will participate in other collaborative research projects, contributing to their development experimentally as well as intellectually. In addition, you will be encouraged to lead a research project, and the post includes both hands-on and lab-management tasks.
You will have a relevant degree or PhD, with a record of significant research experience using in vivo techniques, and good organisational skills. Previous experience of lab management and brain tumour research is desirable but not essential.
