The School of Education at Strathclyde is the largest provider of teacher education in Scotland. In line with the Scottish Government’s priorities in terms of workforce planning, the School’s targets represent approximately 40% of the national recruitment target.

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Secondary English. A key aspect of the post will be working with PGDE (Secondary English) students and on Postgraduate Taught (PGT) and Postgraduate Research (PGR) programmes, as well leading more generally on Literacy developments.

The successful candidate will be involved in designing, delivering and assessing a range of teaching materials for PGDE, PGT and undergraduate courses, making a clear contribution, via School discussions, to curriculum review and enhancement and engaging in individual or collaborative research. You will demonstrate research interests consistent with the strategic direction of the School and have the ability to disseminate results in a variety of ways, including conference presentations and peer reviewed publications.

The postholder will be involved in sourcing potential funding opportunities and the development of proposals to secure research and knowledge exchange funding. You will participate in School/Faculty/University administration, for example by membership of School/Faculty/University Committees and/or by acting as class/module/year co-ordinator. The postholder will determine his/her own priorities within the parameters set by their teaching and research programmes.

Candidates will be PhD qualified (or equivalent) and have academic expertise in the relevant area. The successful candidate will be capable of maintaining an education focus in a multi-disciplinary, cross-University collaborative research environment and will be adept at using multiple-methods research approaches. Applicants will also demonstrate relevant teaching experience and the ability to contribute to the REF 2020.
