Attracting the best staff to work for Lancaster University, and within our international partnerships, will assist us in delivering our strategic priorities in research, teaching, and engagement.
This vacancy is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic team in a unique sector and to help shape and deliver our strategy. Procurement at Lancaster has undergone significant transformation in recent years. The team continues to expand its reach and is forward thinking in its approach to managing the full range of Purchase to Pay and Source to Contract activity for the University’s non-pay expenditure which in Financial Year 15/16 was £110m.
The Higher Education (HE) sector purchases an unparalleled range of goods and services and the team at Lancaster support world-leading academics in their teaching and research along with colleagues from other Professional Services areas such as Facilities and Information Systems. A wide variety of categories are managed including Laboratory Supplies & Equipment, Travel, IT, Facilities, and Professional Services.
Our Facilities Division is responsible for all property and facilities, commercial services, accommodation, and sport on behalf of the University. Over £500 million has been invested into our campus over the last ten years and our plans for the next ten years are even more ambitious.
The Facilities Senior Buyer will be part of the team responsible for the procurement service in this area. A large part of the role will involve working with the University’s Facilities team to manage compliant procurement processes for the University’s capital and revenue expenditure on new buildings, refurbishments, maintenance, goods and services.
Applicants should have substantial experience delivering a relevant procurement service. Prior experience of working in the HE Sector is not essential and we would also welcome applications from candidates with experience gained in the wider public sector and in the private sector.
Should you wish to discuss any aspect of the role further, please contact Larissa Morrish, Head of Procurement (tel: 01524 592204 or email: [email protected]).
We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
