The Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College London implements a cross-disciplinary model of translational research, leveraging on the extensive adoption of genomics and bioinformatics approaches to advance the identification of novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers of disease. We are seeking for a talented and motivated HPC System Administrator to join our BRC Translational Bioinformatics Core. The post-holder will be contributing to the running of the HPC computer infrastructure owned by the BRC. The system has over 2816 compute cores, about 3.5 PB of storage and several hundred users. This is a varied role involving planning future infrastructure, user instruction, software deployment, troubleshooting system failures, aiding users plan their requirements for translational science projects and helping with the overall organisation of the systems. The candidate will need to be expert in the computer systems that he/she is managing but maintain a degree of interdisciplinary knowledge when interacting with users from different backgrounds. The successful candidate will have post-graduate experience in the administration and use of HPC systems, preferably in the areas of medical bioinformatics. They will enjoy team working and interactions with experimental and computational scientist to work on complex biological datasets.
