Location: Based at Riccarton Campus, near Edinburgh but with operation internationally.

Salary: Associate Professor – Grade 9: £49,149 – £56,950 / Assistant Professor – Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 or 8: £39,991 - £47,722 (salary dependent on experience and qualifications).

The Institute for Sensors Signals and Systems (ISSS) is a world leading research institute in developing key innovations related to satellite and terrestrial communication systems, microwave and antenna engineering, digital communications, manufacturing integration and packaging, sensor design, signal and image processing, autonomous distributive systems, and robotics. Our research has impact in several key areas, including Wireless and Wired Communication Networks, Satellite Communications, Medicine and the Life Sciences, Robotics, Autonomous Systems and Transport, Manufacturing and Quality Control, Electronics and Microelectronics, Environmental Monitoring and Remote Sensing, Security, Surveillance and Defence.

With a clear strategy for your future research plans, you will develop an independent research portfolio, while demonstrating leadership and initiative in developing novel research teams. You will also contribute to teaching within the disciplines of Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering.

To be considered, you will have knowledge and experience in the area of electromagnetics and/or microwaves/antenna engineering. You will have a strong academic track record and a strong drive to become a research leader. Ideally, you will possess a successful track record of obtaining external funding, as well as previous teaching and learning experience to contribute positively to our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Relevant industrial experience would be desirable. A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or other cognate discipline is essential, along with evidence of vision, drive, and determination to succeed. A confident and outgoing attitude is necessary, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
