The salary will be paid at Grade 4, £23,879 to £26,829 (pro-rata) per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Allowance pro rata

This post will be fixed term for 36 months

This is a Part Time post – 50% full time equivalent (17.5 hours per week)

The post entails providing excellent administrative support to the Professor of Obstetrics and members of the research team, including managing a portfolio of research projects, drafting and maintaining correspondence, completing administrative tasks, organising travel itineraries, organising meeting arrangements for internal and external clients and liaising with individuals in a sensitive and tactful manner. The range and diversity of responsibilities will require the post holder to adopt a flexible approach. The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines is essential. The role also requires performing to a high standard while managing competing priorities.

There will be some managing of expenses across multiple platforms and the post holder will be responsible for the maintenance of an efficient and confidential filing system. The post holder will be the first point of contact for the research group and will need to liaise across the Division with colleagues across sites. Workload of the post is high, and the level of supervision is low – post holder is expected to operate with a large degree of autonomy. The post holder will need to work well in a team within the existing research group and the Division as a whole and will need to be comfortable interacting effectively with a range of people. The ability to pick up new knowledge and skills quickly is essential. The successful applicant will assist in Divisional communication (writing the monthly newsletter), Postgraduate education administration, and will support Professor Chappell in her additional roles as necessary.

Due to the configuration exercise currently underway in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, applicants for this vacancy are available to those within this Faculty in the first instance.
