Doctoral Candidate in the Field of Marine Hydrodynamics.

Focus will be directed to environmental conditions of ocean waves and sea ice, CFD technology and its applications to arctic engineering.

To address the role of hydrodynamics of ship hydrodynamics in ice, the successful applicant will develop theoretical models and numerical methods coupled with on-site measurements and model tests.

Qualified and highly motivated candidates are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant should have

  • Master of Science degree on engineering in a relevant area, e.g. naval architecture and ocean engineering, fluid mechanics or another closely related discipline.
  • Ability to work structured and independently.

  • Good collaborative and social abilities.
  • Prior experience with ice simulation, water waves, sea ice, numerical simulations, but not absolutely required.

    EmploymentThe position is at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Appointment as a Doctoral Candidate is for four years, but a contract is first made for one year, and the extension is subject to advance of research. The salary is according to the salary system of Aalto University.
