The Southampton Electrochemistry Group, based in Chemistry at the University of Southampton, is seeking a is seeking a Chemistry graduate-level or equivalent skill level research technician to join the group and contribute to our research and education activities. The Southampton Electrochemistry Group is one of the largest in Europe and has an international reputation for research and runs an annual Electrochemistry Summer School. It supports a high level of research activity across all areas of electrochemistry and has a broad range of equipment and facilities. Suitable candidates will have a skill level equivalent to achievement of first degree in Chemistry (or closely related discipline) or equivalent industrial experience. Evidence of the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and a desire to learn new skills will be key to a successful application.
The Electrochemistry Group research technician is responsible for a range of equipment (SEM, BET, water purification, glove boxes, vacuum coater, etc.) including training of new users, management of equipment access and charging, and provides a service to external users. Experience with one or more of these techniques would be advantageous but training will be provided. A good understand of laboratory safety and working practices is essential.
Candidates should be available to take up the post from 1st November 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
