This is an exciting opportunity to join the Commercial Services team, which is responsible for the delivery of a range of services across campus to enhance the student, staff and visitor experience.

The role will be assisting in the newly opening Café on the Square and the Boilerhouse Cafe with the day to day supervision of both term time and vacation business; to support the catering team with the running of our newly opened branded coffee shop on campus.

This position will contribute to the success of the cafes on campus by providing a fantastic customer experience to all, engaging with each person whilst you make each of their quality drinks, speed and efficiency to continue with the pace of service and ensuring the standards and professional image of the cafe is maintained at all times.

This is very much a ‘hands on’ position to support the operational efficiency of the service, which also includes supervising and encouraging your team to exceed expectations. The role will involve working evenings and weekends as necessary.

To be successful in this post you will need:

  • Ability to organise and supervise a team of staff.
  • Understanding and knowledge of stock control.
  • Cash handling.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

You will be expected to lead the team in driving the business forward and delivering the best to our customers, ensuring the highest quality service and standards.

Willingness to attend and run training sessions and meetings will also be required.

The ideal candidate must be motivated by people, with a love for supporting other members of the team.

Candidates will need great communication skills and the ability to work using their initiative, making a contribution as part of a team.  Previous experience of leadership is required but we will take into account your passion for the business.

This is a full time permanent position available from January 2018.
