About the role
Challenging, interesting and constantly changing, the University of Derby is an extraordinary place to learn and an incredibly rewarding place to work.
It is an exciting time to be working at the University of Derby. Derby Law School has recently moved into Derby city centre and its new facilities were opened in February 2016 by former Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge. We are now seeking a new member of academic staff to join with us to deliver Law teaching of the highest quality.
The post is an opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher, with a sound understanding of the English legal system and the skills needed in both legal education and in the legal profession, to contribute to the teaching of Equity & Trusts and/or Land Law and/or related subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. A knowledge of Data Protection Law would be an advantage.
For this post, the Department is seeking to build on the successful scholarship and research attributes that are already established at Derby with a view to the successful candidate being able to make a meaningful contribution to the next Research Exercise Framework. The successful candidate should possess, or be about to be admitted to, a PhD in Law or a professional qualification.
While the focus of the posts are teaching and student support, there are opportunities for research and consultancy. Law operates an holistic approach to student support and the successful candidates may take on pastoral and programme administration responsibilities. It is expected that all members of the team engage with the scholarly activity required to ensure the best quality of delivery to students.
For informal enquiries, please contact Scott Atkins, Head of Law, on 01332-592207 or at [email protected]
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect everyone who works for us to also share this commitment and to treat people with courtesy and respect.
