The Department of Mechanical Engineering requires a highly skilled, adaptable and self-motivated Instrumentation/Electronics Technician to provide technical support in its main electronics laboratory.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical advice and support to staff and to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the safe operation and use of a variety of electronic and instrumentation equipment together with basic hand tools, fitting, assembly and soldering. He/She will also be responsible for giving technical advice and assistance with the design, construction and maintenance of specialist electronic equipment, apparatus and systems.Additional responsibilities include electrical safety testing (PAT), equipment calibration and the configuration of data acquisition and control systems.

Applicants should have served a recognised electronics engineering apprenticeship or equivalent training programme, possess a minimum of a level 3/HNC or equivalent qualification in electronics and have proven experience of working in an electronics, instrumentation or research and development environment.

The post is offered on an open ended contract with a commencing salary of £21,220 per annum rising to £24,565 per annum through annual increments.
