Guided by its refreshed Strategic Plan 2016-20, the University is mid-way through an exciting growth period that is best characterised by a rapidly evolving and increasingly competitive higher education environment. In response to the challenges ahead, the Finance Directorate has recently updated its structure to ensure that it continues to provide an efficient and effective service for the future.
The Senior Management Accountant will assist the Chief Management Accountant to support the delivery of the Finance Business Plan for the University.
The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day financial control and commercial activities of the Service areas covered by the role, encouraging value for money in all aspects of financial work including the monitoring of the Service area monthly management accounts. You will be required to take a leadership role in the delivery and implementation of new initiatives, either within your Service areas or at University level.
A key aspect of the role will be ensuring that effective and professional relationships are developed and maintained with Service Heads, including Executive leads, Colleagues and other stakeholders, working effectively and flexibly as part of a team to achieve business objectives.
The Senior Management Accountant will lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for Service areas, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.
You will have a full accountancy qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent), along with experience of managing and developing staff.
