A Public Engagement Coordinator is sought to transform the relationship between the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging (WTCN), a leading research community, and the wider public. Duties include design and delivery of public engagement events and training for the WTCN’s staff and students and provision of guidance on their public engagement activity, design and delivery of programmes to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the WTCN’s overall strategy and individual projects, development of successful partnerships with local and national institutions and cultural organisations, and review of the WTCN’s website engagement with the public. The post holder will work closely with the Institute’s Education Unit and Communications and Website representative. The post is full-time but could also be worked on a part-time basis (minimum of 0.8 fte).

Applicants must be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, preferably in a biomedical science subject, and have a detailed understanding of the need for and benefits of public engagement with science, and a wide knowledge of good public engagement practice. Experience of designing, managing and delivering successful public events, of working with academics and with a broad range of audiences, and of initiating, managing and delivering long-term projects, is essential; excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal, skills, familiarity with digital media and experience of using social networks in public engagement, or a willingness to engage through these media, plus efficient time management, are also required. Knowledge of the use and understanding of social media and content management systems (editing webpages) is desirable.

The post is available immediately and is funded by a grant from the Wellcome Trust for the period to November 2021 in the first instance. Starting salary will be on the UCL Grade 7 scale in the range £34,635 - £41,864 per annum (pro rata for a part-time appointment), superannuable.
