This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis until 6 September 2018 in Geography.

The College of Life and Environmental Sciences brings together the complementary disciplines of Biosciences, Geography, Psychology and Sport and Health Sciences to provide a rich and diverse interdisciplinary teaching and research portfolio. The main responsibilities of the role are to provide administrative support for the Head of Discipline and other senior academic staff including diary support, dealing with post, phone calls and email with a professional, informed and proactive approach, servicing meetings, and general administration such as travel/catering arrangements and expense claims, visitor inductions and authorisation; to co-ordinate the organisation of local, UK-wide and international residential field trips for students, including the booking of accommodation and travel arrangements; liaising with the Insurance Office; processing student expense claim forms; and monitoring of the budget; and to act as the primary point of Geography liaison and information for all users of the building – this is likely to include staff, students and visitors, and will encompass responsibilities such as managing and issuing keys, using the card access system to set up and manage staff and student access out of hours, and reporting and tracking building faults.

We are looking for an experienced administrator with excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills who is able to provide support to a wide-range of staff and students. Qualities such as an ability to work flexibly, independently and as part of a team, to plan effectively and to remain calm under pressure are important.
