The Students’ Health Service is a NHS General Practice caring for approximately 18,750 students and their families, many of whom are from overseas.
As a result of internal promotion, we have a vacancy for a full-time medical secretary. This is a varied and interesting post within a small team that provides secretarial support to 11 GPs and carries out a range of administrative functions within our busy General Office. You will be handling incoming telephone calls to the practice and assisting patients at our Office Enquiries counter. You will have regular contact with patients, other University departments and a variety of secondary care organisations. You must have fast, accurate word-processing skills, be comfortable using a variety of IT systems, and have a friendly and confident manner. You will be someone who enjoys working as part of a team and who has a flexible approach to your work. You will also be empathetic to the particular stresses of student life. Previous GP or medical experience is advantageous, but not essential, as training will be given.
