We are looking for a researcher with excellent analytical and communication skills to join our health economics team evaluating medicines and other health interventions.

The Southampton Health Technology Assessments Centre (SHTAC) is part of the Wessex Institute, in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton.  The University of Southampton is a founding member of the Russell Group and one of the top 100 universities in the world.  With a global reputation for academic excellence, we offer a stimulating, challenging and dynamic working environment for all our staff.  SHTAC is a national centre of excellence for HTA, with expertise in evidence synthesis, health economic evaluation and decision modelling.  We conduct research addressing major policy questions about the effective and cost-effective use of health technologies; including drugs, devices, tests, procedures and health promotion.

Working as part of a team on projects for NICE, you will: critically review evidence and decision models; explore alternative scenarios and uncertainties; write reports and interact with NICE staff, committees and other stakeholders.  You will also contribute to research projects: helping to prepare proposals; collating evidence; analysing data; building models; and sharing and discussing findings.  You will be encouraged and supported to extend your knowledge and skills of relevant methods, to develop your own area of research interest, to publish high quality research reports and papers and to present at local, national and international conferences and meetings.

You will have a PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in health economics, medical statistics or operational research, with skills in applied decision analysis and economic evaluation, and knowledge of methods of heath technology assessment.  In addition to technical knowledge and skills, you will be a good writer, work effectively in a team and communicate well.

Interviews will be held on the 12th and 13th of October 2017.

For additional information, contact Keith Cooper ([email protected]) or Joanne Lord ([email protected]). More information about SHTAC can be found on our website:
