A fixed term post for 12 months (up to 13 October 2018) in the first instance with an option for further extension
Salary in the range £36,800 to £44,200 per annum*
The Department of Materials wishes to appoint a Research Associate to work on the electrochemical approaches and designs for applications in biosensing and regenerative medicine. This post is based within the Biomaterials group at Imperial College London, working with Professor Molly Stevens and involve collaboration with a number of other internationally recognised biomaterials and biosensing research groups. The Stevens Group has received numerous awards for outstanding biomaterials related research (www.stevensgroup.org) and comprises a very international and multidisciplinary group of Research Fellows and PhD students.
You will design and synthesise/engineer innovative electrochemical approaches for biosensing target analytes, biomarkers and monitoring cells. You will be expected to apply electrochemical-based sensors to nanomaterials, delivery systems and materials within our labs and through collaborations. You will have a PhD (or equivalent), preferably in chemistry, nanomaterials, nanotechnology, or an engineering discipline or other relevant discipline, and have experience in electrochemical biosensing, such as for applications in regenerative medicine or at the cell-material interface. You will also be expected to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of cell-based research, materials science, and complimentary materials characterisation techniques. Excellent communication and organisational skills are necessary.
