This is a key post based within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner. The post-holder will help manage the College’s interface with the NHS where the College and NHS share resources, the commissioning of education and training by the NHS.

The Assistant Business Partner – NHS responsibilities will include: 

  • Contributing to the Strategic Liaison and Management of the interface between the College and the NHS
  • Operational Management of the financial and contractual interface with the NHS
  • Providing the College with high-level, detailed, professional management support and information relating to the NHS and managing the risk exposure of the College.

The post holder will need to be able to communicate with all levels of staff, work with minimal supervision, make day to day management & financial decisions and use their judgement and initiative to carry out their duties. Knowledge of NHS Procedures and understanding of NHS Trust management systems would also be beneficial.

Person Specification              

Essential

  • Formal Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or significant experience ( 5 years +) of working in a similar role
  • A high level of numeracy and literacy skills, together with the ability to effectively analyse and present information.
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • A proven record of taking responsibility for projects and working on their own initiative.
  • Excellent Planning and Organisational skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • An awareness of national funding issues in relation to clinical education and the relationships between the NHS and Higher Education Institutions.
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems.

Desirable

  • Background of working in an NHS or Higher Education institution.
