This role will specialise in administering the financial activities of the Faculty Office and new academic institutes supported by the Faculty Office during their start-up phases. The role holder will ensure effective procedures are documented and adopted for dealing with all aspects of financial administration with an emphasis on monitoring expenditure, preparing reports for the Faculty Manager, Dean and Directors of Institutes, and completing submissions for annual budgets and in-year forecasts. The post will deliver a high quality and timely service to staff and others internal and external to the department.
The postholder will also play a key role in facilitating training and knowledge exchange amongst departmental managers and finance officers to ensure consistency across the Faculty.
In addition to being experienced in Myfinance and having the ability to train a team in Myfinance, the postholder will be expected to take a leading role in advising on budgets and agreeing them with key staff, in addition to servicing the relevant committees, the postholder will be responsible for all financial processing and procurement issues that arise. These will include IDTs, expense and travel claim forms, credit card payments, raising requisitions and purchase orders, to name but a few.
The postholder will also be expected to manage and implement systems along with being the first financial point of contact for the Faculty. This post is funded for one year in the first instance.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree standard or equivalent with knowledge of financial processes and regulations associated with general financial administration. They will have excellent knowledge of Excel, including the ability to understand and use numerical formulae.
