Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal SciencesBotnar Research CentreWindmill Road

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trial Manager for the SPAARK Trial (Study of Peri-Articular Anaesthetic for Replacement of the Knee) led by Chief Investigator Professor Hemant Pandit, to be based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford. Professor Pandit is based in Leeds, and the role will also involve working closely with the sponsor team based at the University of Leeds.

As a Clinical Trial Manager, your primary responsibility will be to work with the Chief Investigator and the study team to efficiently develop and coordinate the SPAARK study at a national level. The role will involve the development of pragmatic and appropriate processes to ensure successful recruitment and retention of patients and administration of trial procedures. You will coordinate the design, implementation and running of the SPAARK trial across up to 15 participating hospital sites in the UK, ensuring timely data collection, Good Clinical Practice compliance and undertaking regular monitoring site-visits. You will also facilitate meetings of trial committees and be responsible for ensuring relevant and timely updates for project stakeholders.

You must have a degree in a biomedical or health related subject and some knowledge of the set up process for clinical trials, including regulatory and governance requirements. High level communication skills, project management experience and evidence of substantial problem solving and team working skills are essential, as are computer literacy and experience of developing, maintaining and producing information from databases. State registration as a healthcare professional and experience of coordinating clinical trials or other health related projects would be desirable. As a secondary responsibility, you may also be required to assist with management and coordination of the ALLIKAT study (All Ligaments in Knee Arthroplasty Trial).

A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6: £28,098 - £33,518 p.a.) with commensurate reduction in responsibilities if a suitable candidate cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.

This is a full-time fixed-term appointment until 30 April 2019.

The closing date for this position is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 6 September 2017. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.

Please note that the University of Oxford's retirement policy is changing. With effect from October 1 2017, all employees at Grade 8 and above will have a retirement age of 68, and all employees at Grades 6 and 7 will no longer have a set retirement age.
