Research Laboratory for ArchaeologyDyson Perrins BuildingSouth Parks Road
The School of Archaeology is seeking to appoint a Laboratory Technician to aid in sample preparation as part of the FEEDSAX project. The project is funded by the European Research Council and is led by Professor Helena Hamerow. The technician will be responsible for the preparation of archaeological bone and plant samples for stable carbon and nitrogen isotope analysis. This will include the cataloguing and recording of sample identification data, the application of chemical pretreatment protocols and managing the final IRMS analysis. The technician will be based at the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and will be fully trained in all laboratory and health and safety procedures. The technician will be directly supervised by a postdoctoral research assistant on the FEEDSAX project.
Experience in wet chemistry and data management is required, as well as a completed Bachelor/Master's degree in chemistry, archaeological science, or relevant education and technical qualification in a similar field.
The position is full-time and fixed-term for 18 months.
