The School of Social and Life Sciences at Wrexham Glyndwr University is looking for a dynamic applied individual to join its innovative academic Sports Department. The Department of Sport has a thriving teaching and research environment with a growing population of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The department delivers a range of high quality degree programmes in the area of BSc Sport & Exercise Sciences, BSc Coaching Science, BSc Football and the Performance Specialist (applied sport science). The department is extending its portfolio provision to include nutrition, health science and physical activity which will address contemporary issues relating to sport and health across an individual’s lifespan. The suitable candidate will be responsible for leading / contributing to the development of an applied and innovative curriculum, which is informed by research and which links external organisations and partners. The successful candidate will lead in their specialist area and be able to demonstrate original research activity through publications, networking and impact.
The Post: An enthusiastic and dynamic specialist is sought to join an innovative and experienced team of academics. The individual will be responsible for the development (or contributing to the development) of an innovative hybrid degree programme in the area of nutrition, health physical activity and behavioural change. The successful candidate will be required to manage and teach modules relating to sport and health, physical activity, performance science (applied physiology), behavioural change and contribute to research methods were relevant. This post may be of interest to applicants who have a background and passion in the area of nutrition, applied health science, physical activity across the age range, behaviour change and the innovative use of technology. An ability to understand the holistic approach (multi-disciplinary) to health through the medium of sport will be an advantage.
Appointment will be made at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Grade depending on experience. An established record of research and publication (or equivalent demonstration of externality working in key organisation) is essential for appointment at Senior Lecturer grade.
