Responsible to: Programme Manager
Main Purpose of the Job:
To lead the programme delivery of HND in Business programme and implementation of its programmes delivery, assessment and quality assurance processes.
Duties and Responsibilites
- Overseeing the day-to-day management of the programme
- Co-ordinating the staff resource for the programme and ensuring that staff are adequately briefed and involved
- In liaison with the Programmer Manager ensuring that all students within the programme are provided with appropriate support; the programme leader is responsible for ensuring that all students on the programme have access to a personal tutor
- Promotion of curriculum development and enhancement within the programme; the programme leader will ensure effective liaison with module leaders and lecturers in matters associated with the planning, management and review of the programme
- Promotion of appropriate approaches towards innovation in teaching, learning and methods of assessment within the programme
- Ensuring that the programme is monitored and evaluated in accordance with agreed quality assurance procedures
- Ensuring the implementation of agreed policies and procedures
- Acting and reporting on identified quality improvement needs at programme level as appropriate
- Ensuring the appropriate and timely feedback to students on assessments, particularly in relation to progress within and between levels of study, and failure in modules
- Representing the programme in dealings with external agencies
- Writing programme review and enhancement process report (REP) report, programme handbook, unit handbook, EV report, and other related report in timely fashion.
- Carry out such duties as may be required from time to time by the college that are appropriate to the grade of the post.
Person Specification
- A Master degree or equivalent in Business Management subject
- A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role,
- Proven ability to write suitable module handbooks, module assessments and to undertake assessment grading
- High degree of digital literacy, being familiar with using Virtual Learning Environment software systems and possess proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to appraise tutor performance
- The ability to work well either independently or part of a wider team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present data appropriately for the relevant stakeholder
- Systematic and organised approach to work with the ability to plan and prioritise own work and to adapt to the needs of the situation
- Ability to work to deadlines whilst ensuring that all work is of a professional standard
- Meticulous approach to work and attention to detail
- An understanding of respect for equality and respect for diversity
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the ability to deal with confidential information in an appropriate manner.
Desirable
- PhD qualification in a relevant field
- Professional qualification in Business Management or similar field
- Experience of managing tutors
- Ability to chair internal meetings/committees/boards effectively
- Experience of quality assurance issues in a QAA reviewed institution
- External examiner experience
- Experience of recruiting tutors
- Experience of research
