Applications are invited for the above post based at the Primary Care Stratified Medicine Research Group (PRISM) in The Division of Primary Care based at University Park Campus. This above post is funded by academic and industry partners through an independent research grant from AMGEN and NIHR research grants.

The successful candidate will be expected to work on highly quantitative research projects using large primary care databases. They will have experience in data management of large datasets and using epidemiological/statistical methods for observational study design and analysis.

Our group has a team-orientated approach to the delivery of research projects and the appointed candidate will also be encouraged to contribute, as required, to other research studies being run by the group, depending on time available, and their interest, skills, and experience.

The post holder must be willing to work flexibly in terms of hours and duties as a team member, and be able to travel within the UK as required for meetings and events.

Candidates must have a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject and a PhD. They must have experience of designing, delivering, and analysing both quantitative research studies, with a clear understanding of key issues involved in working in a health care environment. The successful candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work both on their own initiative and as part of a team. They should also have excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. They should preferably have training or experience with using routine NHS data and a knowledge of the ethical and governance issues surrounding the use of NHS data for research.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months and is full-time, though 80% whole time equivalence spread over 4 or 5 days would be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Stephen Weng (email: [email protected]). Please note that applications sent directly to this address will not be accepted.
