Salary: £15,356 to £16,289 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited to the above role to provide essential basic laboratory support to research and teaching laboratories in the School of Life Sciences to support the safe and effective operation of research and teaching activities. This role involves driving the School van to collect various samples from external suppliers, including animal tissues from local abattoirs, and sorting such tissue into receptacles at the abattoir site. The role involves physical activity, standing for much of the time, including lifting, carrying and moving materials and equipment and working across a number of locations within walking distance. The role holder will also provide a range of technical support activities for research laboratories in the School carrying out the preparation of a wide range of materials.

Candidates must also have a good general education evidenced by up to 5 GCSE (grade C and above) or equivalent, including maths and English, or previous experience in a relevant role.

Due to the frequency that candidates will be required to travel between University and external suppliers full current driving licence is essential for this post.

This part-time role (24 hours per week) is fixed-term for a period of 12 months.
