Detail information about job Statistician. Terms and conditions vacancy

We are looking for a statistician who can be a strong and enthusiastic communicator of the value of sound statistical approaches, to join our large statistical team and contribute to the high-quality support we offer healthcare researchers through the activities of Research Design Service (RDS) London and the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU).

RDS London is funded by the National Institute for Health Research and provides free advice to researchers who are applying for public funding for their research, to maximise the quality and impact of their proposals. The PCTU is a UKCRC-registered Clinical Trials Unit which specialises in trials of interventions as they would be delivered in practice, and supports a diverse portfolio of funded studies. Both units provide a high standard of multidisciplinary research support. You will be joining a team of thirteen statisticians already working within the PCTU at different levels.

The purpose of this post is to give advice on statistics and quantitative research methods to researchers consulting RDS London (and occasionally those referred by RDS South East region), and to contribute to the work of the PCTU by providing statistical support to studies from their development through to publication. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to do a small amount of teaching.

You should have a higher degree in statistics or equivalent, and previous experience of research in healthcare. You should have an interest in new developments in quantitative research methods, particularly in clinical trial design and practice. You will need some knowledge of sources of UK funding for health research, and must be able to work independently or as part of a team.

This post is a full-time, fixed term appointment until the end of September 2018 (with the possibility of extension) starting as soon as possible. Starting salary will be in the range of £36,064 - £42,431 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Richard Hooper at [email protected] or on +44 (0)20 7882 7324.
