Detail information about job Academic Dean of Faculty. Terms and conditions vacancy
The University of Sunderland is a highly successful institution with a proud history and clear ambitions for the future. Operating from campuses in the North East of England, Canary Wharf in London and now Hong Kong, we place our students at the heart of everything we do; providing life changing opportunities.
Our Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism comprising our Schools of Law and Business is situated in the award-winning Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peters in Sunderland. It has a budget of around £25m, 70 academic staff, and is home to a diverse student body of over 3,000 Home/EU and International students. The Faculty is also currently working with 14 partners worldwide in an extensive Trans-national Education operation which contributes over 40% of its income.
External engagement and networking are real strengths and colleagues develop and deliver a range of corporate leadership programmes to regional private and public sector organisations, which integrate theory and practice to develop managers fit to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Business, Tourism and Events Management have achieved very strong results in recent National Student Surveys. Faculty research continues to develop following a submission to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate to take on the role of Academic Dean to lead the Faculty. The Academic Dean is responsible for the leadership and management of the Faculty in support of the learning and research agendas; ensuring the Faculty makes an active contribution to the delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan. The Academic Deans play a key role in engendering an exciting, dynamic and relevant scholarly environment that encourages curiosity and creativity.
This is an opportunity for an outstanding academic leader who shares our ambition to be recognised as a high-quality, modern university that is an exemplar in the creation of knowledge, skills and learning relevant to the 21st Century.
A professorial appointment will also be considered where appropriate.
