Salary: £36,800 - £44,220 per annum (Maximum salary on appointment is £37,760 per annum)

Applications are invited for a Research Associate in the Department of Materials at Imperial College, London to undertake research on triplet states, maser materials and devices. The post is funded by the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. 

An enthusiastic and highly motivated individual is sought possessing a strong background in experimental (applied) physics or physical chemistry. Experience in one or several of the following areas is highly desirable: the fabrication, characterization and/or modelling of spin-polarized materials (exhibiting triplet states); the design, construction and modification of experimental apparatus involving laser optics, rf/microwave electronics, temperature controllers and magnets.

Successful completion of a PhD (or equivalent) in Materials, Chemistry, Physics or related scientific/engineering discipline is required.

The post holder will report to Dr Mark Oxborrow. In addition to research, there is the opportunity for the post holder to develop teaching experience.

This is a Full-Time and Fixed Term contract for two years.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £32,380 - £34,040 per annum.
