An opportunity exists for a laboratory technician to work in our water microbiology laboratory. The laboratory carries out analysis of water for the University, external clients and internal research projects, for a range of microbial indicators of water safety and quality. The laboratory is accredited by UKAS to ISO 17025:2005 and has a strong commitment to the quality of service it provides to all its customers.

The duties of the post are varied and include performing routine analysis of samples for a range of microbiological parameters, being responsible for the day to day activities of the microbiology laboratory, and assisting team members with projects designed to meet specific customer requirements.

Ideally you will be educated to a minimum of A-level or equivalent and have some experience of working in a laboratory preferably in the water industry. You must have strong IT and communication skills. You will be self-motivated and able to work effectively without constant supervision. Flexibility and adaptability are also key to this role.

An ability to operate, calibrate and maintain standard laboratory instruments is required.
