Detail information about job Research Assistant/Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy
The Surface Microstructure and Fracture (SMF) Group of the Department of Physics, University of Cambridge, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on developing experimental techniques for gathering data to inform microstructurally resolved models of the thermal and mechanical properties of high volumetric fill fraction (> 80%) polymer bonded particulate composites. This is a long running research theme within the SMF Group.
The role holder will join a collaborative effort funded by The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) which seeks to develop a computational model representation of highly filled polymer bonded particulate composites with physically correct constitutive relations for both the constituents and of bulk behaviour. The role holder would be expected to report progress on a quarterly basis (written reports and meetings) and attend associated meetings with other partner organisations and universities.
The researcher should have a PhD in Physics or a closely related discipline (inclusive of those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD). Experience in the use of high strain instrumentation and use of fast diagnostics such as heterodyne velocimetry and VISAR is desirable.
