Duration of Post: Fixed-term for up to 18 months

A Research Fellow position in Charge Transport through individual, small metal nanoparticles (< 3 nm) is currently available within the School of Chemistry at University of Birmingham, with particular focus on electrochemical environments. The successful candidate will join an inter-disciplinary team working on experimental studies on single-molecule charge transport and spintronics. The post is part of a Leverhulme Trust-funded project in the Albrecht group in the School of Chemistry.

This position will involve predominantly the synthesis of small metal nanoparticles, their electrochemical characterisation in solution and on the electrode surface, as well as ECSTM-based charge transport studies of these systems. The successful candidate should be familiar with and have a track record in these the areas. Prior experience in Matlab, Labview or similar software platforms and instrumentation building is advantageous. An ability to work in a team and to write succinctly for publication is also required.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in electrochemistry, surface analysis, or a related area, with focus on single-molecule or single-particle charge transport.
