Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join an international multicentre research programme dedicated to the detailed clinical, neuropsychological and MRI characterization of genetic frontotemporal dementia (GENFI) which is co-ordinated by UCL. The programme aims to provide the evidence base for future clinical trials in this important condition.
The post-holder will work as a data curator of the project, with datasets including psychometric and brain imaging data, and will prepare this data for release to collaborating researchers. The post-holder will also assist with various other aspects of the study including magnetic resonance brain image analysis, working with the scientific core groups of the GENFI study, and other similar international studies as part of the FTD Prevention Initiative (FPI). Lastly, the post will also involve writing and co-ordinating the web and social media aspects of the study.
Applicants must hold an honours degree (minimum Upper Second) in Psychology, Neuroscience or related discipline, and have IT proficiency at an advanced user level. Experience of UNIX/LINUX systems is essential, as is a demonstrable understanding of MR Imaging. Knowledge of medical statistics is desirable as is experience of database management and of web design.
The post is available from September 2017 and is funded for one year in the first instance by the MRC. Starting salary on UCL Grade 6b scale: £29,809 to £31,432 per annum, including London Allowance.
